A single-vehicle accident occurred this afternoon when a dark blue truck, possibly a Chevrolet Silverado, veered off the right-hand side of the road and crashed into trees, authorities reported.
The incident was first reported at 2:54 p.m. when a caller informed dispatch that the truck had gone off the road and down into a ditch. The driver, a male, was initially reported to be trapped inside the vehicle but had rolled down the window to inform a responder that he was okay.
Emergency services quickly responded to the scene. By 2:57 p.m., the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF) had been notified, and by 3:01 p.m., units were assigned to the incident. Multiple units arrived at the scene between 3:14 p.m. and 3:17 p.m., ensuring that the situation was under control.
The eastbound lanes were temporarily blocked, according to reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) at 3:11 p.m. Recovery efforts were coordinated, with Quality Tow en route to retrieve the vehicle. An 1185 tow request was placed, with an estimated time of arrival of 35 minutes as of 3:14 p.m.
The driver remained in the vehicle until assistance arrived but was confirmed to be unharmed.
