Man rescued from possibly jumping off Lilac Bridge

A man was reported to be a possible jumper from the Lilac Bridge in Bonsall. The Deer Springs Fire Department responded, as well as the Sheriff and CHP. To manage the situation and ensure public safety, a SIG Alert was issued for the southbound side of Interstate 15 (I-15). The authorities were able to talk the man down and persuade him to receive help.

The man was reported to be contemplating jumping from the structure at around 2:38 pm, prompting a swift response from multiple emergency services.

The Deer Springs Fire Department, alongside the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and the California Highway Patrol (CHP), quickly arrived on the scene to address the unfolding crisis.

Emergency personnel communicated with the man. While it is unknown at this time what unfolded exactly, the authorities typically employ a range of de-escalation techniques, including negotiation and emotional support, to persuade people to come back to safety.

The man was successfully talked down and emergency responders ensured that he received the necessary care and support.

The southbound lanes of I-15 were closed for a period due to the situation, causing some traffic delays. The lanes have since been reopened, and traffic has returned to normal.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
