Field technician recognized as Good Samaritan

FALLBROOK – In July, while driving along Reche Road near Potter Junior High School, Jacob Lavoie, a Field Technician with Spectrum, noticed a sinkhole. The sinkhole was about two feet across and three feet deep, posing a significant danger to passing vehicles.

Without hesitation, Lavoie stopped his truck, placed a cone in front of the sinkhole, and marked the area to alert other drivers. His prompt action may very well have prevented a serious accident or even saved lives.

Recognizing his exemplary efforts, California Assemblymember Marie Waldon's district office honored Lavoie on Aug. 28 with a certificate of recognition. The certificate highlights his great public spirit and his keen interest in the safety and well-being of others. It reads:

"Throughout its history, California has been blessed with citizens who possess great public spirit, who, in addition to their daily pursuits, take a keen interest in the safety and well-being of others. Most notably, Jacob Lavoie of Spectrum deserves special recognition from the public for selflessly taking preventative measures to mark an unexpected sinkhole in Fallbrook so drivers could avoid potential hazards and avert serious or life-threatening injury. Jacob Lavoie is to be commended for his exemplary effort as a Good Samaritan and extended sincere best wishes for a bright and rewarding future."

The certificate is signed by Assemblymember Marie Waldron of the 75th District.

Submitted by Spectrum.
