Mixto wins Pacific Classic

Four horses who once trained at the San Luis Rey Training Center ran in the Pacific Classic race Aug. 31 at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club including Mixto, who won the Grade 1 stakes race.

Mixto, who is trained by Doug O'Neill and was ridden by Kyle Frey for the Pacific Classic, won the 1 1/4-mile dirt race by half a length. O'Neill also trains Katonah, who was seventh in the Pacific Classic. Dr. Venkman, who is trained by Mark Glatt, finished fourth. None Above the Law, who was at San Luis Rey when Peter Miller was his trainer, was the sixth horse across the finish line.
