Worker of the Week works 84 hours a week

Maria Mateo manages the Quetzal Express Store located at 411 N. Main Ave. She has been living in Fallbrook for more than 22 years and working at Quetzal Express for more than two years. She works 12 hours a day, seven days a week. Prior to this, she worked as a barber at Aces Barber Shop here for six years. The business sends money transfers and exchanges to and from Mexico and Centroamerica. Quetzal Express also sells products that are from Guatemala, Calzado, and Trajes Tipicos. Mateo, when she has time off, she loves to go walking down the beach, up in the mountains and visiting Guatemala once a year with her husband, Luis Diego; daughter Jocelyn, 19, and son Sebastian, 23.
