Residential fire burns two-story home on Olive Hill

A working residential fire was reported on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 3:41 pm at 3017 Olive Hill Rd. NCFPD (North County Fire Protection District), Vista Fire and CDF (California Dept. of Forestry) worked collectively to get the fire under control. The extra engines were requested for overhaul, which is the process of searching for and putting out any remaining pockets of fire after a residential fire has been controlled. It's important to complete the overhaul process because a single ember can cause a fire to rekindle.

The structure appeared to pose unique challenges because it was a two-story log cabin with a fireplace and chimney, according to the Village News reporter on the scene.
